Technical Competence Manager (WAMITAB)

Location: Norfolk - Mobile (Field Based)
Working Hours: Monday – Friday between 7am-5pm, Saturdays as Required.
Pay: To be discussed at Interview, dependant on experience.

Job Overview:
The Technical Competence Manager is responsible for ensuring that all sites within the Mick George Group (MG Group) operate in full compliance with current company policies, health & safety (H&S) regulations, and statutory requirements. The role supports operational excellence through site inspections, staff training, and proactive liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring uninterrupted and compliant site operations. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Operations Director as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular compliance inspections across all MG Group sites.
- Monitor and support site adherence to permit conditions and environmental obligations.
- Collaborate with Site Managers and Directors to develop and implement compliance improvement plans.
- Ensure all required statutory and company documentation is complete, accurate, and accessible on site.
- Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies such as the Environmental Agency and local authorities.
- Investigate and resolve any instances of non-compliance effectively and efficiently.
- Perform site compliance checks, including verification of Fire Protection Plans.
- Foster and promote a strong health & safety culture across the organisation.
- Ensure proper inductions and permit-to-work procedures are conducted for all contractors and visitors.
- Act as a professional ambassador for MG Group at all times.
Skills & Competencies Required:
Essential:
- WAMITAB CoTC Level 4 in Waste Management Operations (Landfill - 4MLH, Transfer - 4TSH, Treatment - 4TMH) with current Continuing Competence
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC use
- Confident and assertive when required
- In-depth knowledge of H&S legislation and company compliance expectations
- Collaborative and proactive team player
Desirable:
- Prior experience in a similar compliance or technical role
- IOSH Managing Safely qualification
