Here at the Mick George Group we are looking for a Minerals and Waste Planner.

Duties include:

  • Keep abreast of the Development Plan Document progress in all relevant local authority areas, making timely representations on behalf of the company and where requested prepare and give evidence at Public Hearings/Inquiries
  • Preparation and submission of planning applications for major and minor developments to local authorities, local communities or other external bodies
  • Preparation of any Environmental Statements and any other relevant documentation to support submissions
  • Project management and managing external consultants, including the appointment of specialist consultants where necessary to support the planning application process
  • Operational planning including soil stripping plans /schedules, preparation of working and restoration schemes, liaison with planning authorities and general advice to operations team
  • Deliver pre-application recommendations to business stakeholders
  • Prepare reports, appraisals and feasibility studies of new sites and developments for consideration by senior management
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with planning permissions
  • Participate in site review meeting; advising on planning conditions and legal agreements
  • Conducting research on site development potential
  • Frequently attend meetings with local authorities to discuss development proposals
  • Undertake additional duties as required, commensurate with the level of the job

What we are looking for?

  • Qualified member of RTPI or RICS with post-qualified experience
  • Excellent organisational, planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage own workload
  • The ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions
  • Ability to convey information accurately and clearly in a manner which is understood
  • Flexibility and versatility with the ability to adapt to changing requirements
  • Demonstratable experience of working as a planner and/or Minerals Surveyor in industry or local authority
  • Knowledge and understanding of current and evolving planning legislation
  • Experience in evaluating mineral resources would be advantageous
  • Great attention to detail with the ability to work well under pressure
  • Computer literate and proficient on Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence
